Stronger Bodies. Greater Confidence. Skills That Last.
School of Strength is a youth strength-training program in Edmond, Oklahoma where students learn how to move, lift, and train safely in a structured, encouraging environment. Once a week · 45–60 minutes · $135/month.
Why We Exist
More Than a Workout
Children are growing up in a world that often asks them to sit for hours at a time. School, homework, devices, and busy schedules can make it difficult for them to get the movement their developing bodies need.
School of Strength gives students dedicated time to move, build strength, and learn what their bodies are capable of doing. Each class combines age-appropriate strength training with individualized coaching, proper technique, and steady progression.
Students are challenged at their own level in an environment that is supportive, positive, and never intimidating. They are not simply learning how to lift weights — they are learning patience, consistency, discipline, and confidence.
The Research
Why Strength Training Matters for Kids
The CDC recommends that children and adolescents ages 6–17 get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, including muscle-strengthening and bone-strengthening activity at least three days per week. Yet in 2023, only 16.5% of high school students met both the daily activity and muscle-strengthening recommendations. CDC · Healthy People 2030
When it is properly designed and supervised, youth resistance training can help:
- Increase muscular strength and power
- Improve balance, coordination, and motor skills
- Support healthy bones and joints
- Improve sports performance
- Help prepare the body for the physical demands of sports and daily life
- Build healthy exercise habits at an early age
- Support confidence and a sense of accomplishment
Research reviewed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association found that youth can make meaningful strength gains beyond those associated with normal growth. Short-term programs of 8–20 weeks have commonly produced strength gains of approximately 30%. NSCA position statement
Safety First
Is Strength Training Safe for Kids?
Yes — when it is taught correctly.
Research supports age-appropriate resistance training for children and adolescents when the program is properly designed and supervised by a qualified adult. The focus should be on technique, control, gradual progression, and movements appropriate for each student — not on lifting the heaviest weight possible.
That is exactly how School of Strength is taught.
After School
A Better After-School Option
After sitting in class for much of the day, kids need opportunities to move. School of Strength provides a positive, purposeful after-school activity that helps students release energy while developing strength, coordination, and confidence. They receive hands-on coaching and learn skills they can continue using as they grow.
It is a great fit for students who:
- Are not interested in traditional team sports
- Want to become stronger for the sport they already play
- Need more physical activity during the week
- Would benefit from additional structure and encouragement
- Want to feel more comfortable and confident in a gym
Homeschool Families
A Strength and PE Option for Homeschool Families
Finding a physical education option that is structured, consistent, and genuinely teaches lifelong skills can be difficult. School of Strength gives homeschool students an opportunity to receive expert instruction, stay active, and learn proper strength-training techniques in a welcoming environment.
Classes can complement your homeschool physical education plan while giving students the benefit of coaching, accountability, and time alongside other kids. Instead of simply "getting exercise," students learn how to train with purpose and care for their bodies for years to come.

Meet Coach Jill Carver
An Educator Who Understands Kids
School of Strength is led by Jillian Carver, an experienced educator and strength coach with a master's degree in physical education. As a former physical education teacher, Coach Jill understands that every student enters the gym with a different ability level, personality, and degree of confidence. She knows how to meet children where they are, teach movements in a way they understand, and encourage them to keep growing.
Her goal is not to compare students with one another. It is to help each student become stronger, safer, and more confident than they were when they began.
